Words, words, words

 About a month ago, dear Abby (no pun intended) posted about the checks she did with Treasures basal for first grade. I copied her template and began using the Word Automaticity portion on Monday and Friday of each week. OH...my...my eyes were opened! You can read all about it here.

I think it helped me just as much as the kids. Eye opening! My! Now I know that some of my kids that I thought were doing fine on decoding skills are really struggling. I just pick some words to make my chart each week. So even if you aren't using Treasures you can still add words according to your spelling patterns.

On a happier note...my evaluation is over. I am relieved--even though I don't know how I did. I used several sources to teach all about graphs/data.

The kiddos were excellent in behavior. And we ended with making the turkey glyph cookies. The principal took off before we actually got into the cookies, icing, raisons, and candy!

After we recorded our data and analyzed it we were ready for the fun part!
